How to copy an item
- In the game, hover the mouse over the item.
- Press Ctrl+Alt+C. This copies the item with its modifier tiers. Plain Ctrl+C works too.
- Paste it in the box above. The check runs straight away.
What the check tells you
- Tier
- T1 is the best roll of a modifier; the higher the number, the weaker the roll.
- Best at this item level
- The best tier the item's level allows. A low item level keeps the top tiers out of reach.
- First drops in
- The stage of the game where that tier first starts to drop.
- Good for
- Levelling, early mapping or endgame, judged from where the tier drops and how close it is to the best.
- Open slots
- A rare item has up to three prefixes and three suffixes. Open slots are where crafting can add new modifiers.
- The verdict
- Whether it's worth spending currency on, using, selling or vendoring.
Plan a craft, step by step
Under the check, tick the stat types you want on the item. Craft Mentor lays out the route: which orb, omen or essence to use, your chance of hitting each stat type (a crafting calculator built in), and what the materials cost on poe.ninja. Do one step, paste the item again, and the route re-plans from what you actually got. Tick the materials you have, and it tells you which ones you'd need to buy.

Is Craft Mentor free?
Yes. It's part of Build Mentor, a free fan tool that works in any browser, with no account.
Which patch is it for?
Path of Exile 2 patch 0.5.5. Modifiers, tiers and base types come from the game's own files and are refreshed each league.
Why Ctrl+Alt+C?
It copies the item with each modifier's tier and whether it's a prefix or a suffix. A plain Ctrl+C copy works too: Craft Mentor then works the tiers out from the values.
Does it show my chance to hit a modifier?
Yes, per type of stat, but roughly for now: Path of Exile 2's game files don't include how often each modifier rolls, so every stat type that can roll counts as equally likely until we have reliable figures.
Does it work on PS5 and Xbox?
Yes. Consoles can't copy item text, so open "No copy button? Build your item here" under the paste box and pick the item type, base, item level and stats as you see them in game.
