Gear Check: PoE2 gear evaluator
Paste your whole character's gear, or a Path of Building code, and get a quick read: what kind of build it looks like, which stage of the game it's ready for, whether your offence and survival hold up, whether your stats work together, and which slot to upgrade next. A gear checker for PC, PS5 and Xbox players alike: no setup, free, for patch 0.5.5.
How to use it
- In the game, hover over an item you wear and press Ctrl+Alt+C. Then click its slot on the gear panel and press Ctrl+V. On a phone, long-press the slot and choose Paste. Pasting onto a filled slot swaps the item.
- Or import a PoB code: under "Have a Path of Building code or file?", paste the code (Import/Export Build, then Generate) or upload the build's .xml file. Every slot fills at once.
- Your gear is checked as you add it. Come back after your next upgrades and it shows what changed.
What it tells you
- Looks like
- The kind of build your gear points to: the weapon gives the style (attack, caster, minion), the bases and stats give the defence and the damage type.
- Stage
- Levelling, mapping, early endgame or endgame, from the tiers on your rare items.
- Offence, Survival, Harmony
- Your weapon and damage stats; your resistances, chaos resistance and life or defences; and how many of your stats help this kind of build.
- Your next upgrade
- Up to three slots to change first, and why: stats that don't help, missing life or resistances, or rolls well below what the item level allows.
Questions
Is Gear Check free?
Yes. It's part of Build Mentor, a free fan tool that works in any browser, with no account.
Do I need to pick my skills?
No. The weapon and the stats on your gear tell the build. With a Path of Building code, your skills are listed too.
Where is my gear kept?
In your browser only. Clearing site data, a private window or another device starts fresh. Give each character a name to keep their histories apart.
Does it work on PS5 and Xbox?
Yes. Consoles can't copy items, so on PS5 or Xbox use a PoB code from Path of Building, or build each item by hand with Craft Mentor's console item builder and paste it here.
What resistance cap should I aim for?
75% fire, cold and lightning resistance is the normal maximum, and you want to be there by the endgame. Gear Check adds up your gear, the quest rewards and the campaign penalty for your level, and shows how far off you are.
How exact are the resistances?
They add up your gear, the quest rewards and the campaign penalty for your level. Your passive tree can add more, so treat a small shortfall as a check, not a verdict.
